Post Trail Closures Reply with quote
As of December 1st all trails of the GLATV will be closed. Please stay off the trails so that they will be in good shape for the spring. The less work we have to do in the spring the sooner we will be able to get them open. Once trail closed signs have been posted and gates are closed anyone caught on the trails, whether they have a valid pass or not, will be charged with tresspassing.

Thanks,
Jim Capling

Just a question.......I'm not trying to be an A-Hole, but are we not doing more damage in the spring and fall to the trails?
Through out the winter everything is frozen, and most of the trails don't go near the snowmobile trails.
I'm not trying to stir up any thing.
Thanks

The snowmobile trail cuts off the entire trail from the 9th to the 6th so the trails cant be accessed form Innerkip.

The only trails not affected by the sled trails are hampered by not only been the wettest (even now there wet, not frozen) but also with the tiny ammount of snow we have had, all the field edges are drifted in. making them unpassable.

Without using snow removal equipment daily it is impractible to keep them open. It was tryed in the past and didnt work out a benifit to the club. This normally results in ATVs just treating the plowed fields as thier own and riding all over the place, this then becomes an issue with landowners.

The trails are opened in the spring at the clubs discression and when they feel the trails are ready to handle traffic, same for the closures in the fall. A wet spring could see the trails closed longer than previous years.

Hope this goes some way to answering your question

PS...this forum will be closing within the week so probably better to register to GLATV's new forum and post there. www.glatv.ca
